Anandpur Sahib, November 25, 2025: Punjab staged what officials called the world’s first religious drone show on Monday to commemorate the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur, turning the skies above Anandpur Sahib into a visual retelling of Sikh history.
Over 3,000 drones rose over the city as night fell, forming images depicting the Guru’s life, teachings and ultimate sacrifice. Authorities estimated that more than 50,000 devotees witnessed the spectacle.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, who inaugurated the show, said the state wanted to honour Sikh heritage in a contemporary way. “Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji stood for justice, courage and the right to faith. This tribute carries his message far beyond these grounds,” he said.

The show moved through scenes of meditation, persecution and martyrdom, closing with a vast Khanda symbol suspended in the sky. Hymns and narration explained each sequence.
Engineers said the project was developed in coordination with Sikh institutions to ensure the presentation remained culturally appropriate. A member of the team said, “We were aware of the responsibility attached to every symbol we displayed.”

The event drew attention across digital platforms and news outlets, with images spreading rapidly online. Sikh leaders applauded the effort as a bridge between tradition and technology.
“This is a new way to teach history,” said scholar Baba Harjinder Singh. “The Guru’s sacrifice cannot be forgotten, and initiatives like this help ensure that.”
Officials added that the footage will be preserved for educational use.
