Hoshiarpur Police Rescue 13-Year-Old Abducted by Tutor

by TheReportingTimes

Hoshiarpur, April 27 — A 13-year-old boy from Himachal Pradesh, who was allegedly abducted by his tutor over a month ago, has been rescued, and the kidnapper has been arrested, police said on Sunday.

The boy, a Class 7 student from Kangra, had been residing with his parents in a rented house in Hoshiarpur when he was taken by Bhupinder Singh, a tutor from Dashmesh Nagar. Singh, who had been tutoring the boy daily, convinced the parents to allow him to take the boy on a two-day trip to Shimla on March 12.

However, after leaving with the boy, Singh blocked all communication channels with the family, making it impossible for them to contact their child.

“For 18 days, the parents searched tirelessly for their son but were unable to locate either him or the abductor. In desperation, they filed an FIR on April 2,” said Sub-Inspector Gursahib Singh, SHO of Model Town Police Station.

The FIR was filed under provisions related to kidnapping and unlawful confinement. A police team launched a manhunt for Singh, who was frequently changing his location to avoid capture. Police finally tracked him to a hotel in Darjeeling, West Bengal, where he was arrested two days ago.

“The kidnapper had taken the boy near the Nepal border, and there was a real concern that he might attempt to smuggle the child across,” added Singh.

The boy was rescued safely and has since been presented before the Child Welfare Committee. The accused was brought to court, where he was remanded in four-day police custody for further interrogation.

Investigations into the motive behind the abduction are ongoing, police confirmed.
