Shimla, April 26—Education Minister Rohit Thakur on Friday called on the youth to remain deeply connected with their cultural and religious roots, stressing the importance of preserving the region’s traditional ‘dev’ practices.
Speaking during a puja ceremony in the Jubbal-Kotkhai Assembly constituency, Thakur described the ‘dev’ tradition as a vital part of local life, fostering peace and unity among communities. “The youth should stay connected to their cultural heritage as much as possible, and stay away from drugs,” he said, addressing area residents gathered for the event.
Thakur congratulated the people of the constituency and said the teachings of the ‘dev’ culture offered important lessons on communal harmony and shared living.
During his visit, Thakur also inspected an under-construction community building in the area. The building, coming up at an estimated cost of Rs 50 lakh, has seen over Rs 42 lakh spent so far, with around 90 percent of the work completed, officials informed.
