Phnom Penh, July 26 — As violent clashes between Thailand and Cambodia entered a third day, India on Saturday issued a travel advisory urging its citizens in Cambodia to stay away from border regions where hostilities have intensified.
“At least 32 people have been killed so far—19 in Thailand and 13 in Cambodia—since the conflict erupted on Thursday over a disputed stretch of the border,” according to international reports.
“In view of the ongoing clashes at the Cambodia-Thailand border, Indian nationals are advised to avoid travelling to the border areas,” the Indian Embassy in Phnom Penh stated in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
The advisory also urged Indian citizens in Cambodia to reach out to the mission in case of emergency. Assistance is available at +855 92881676 or by email at cons.phnompenh@mea.gov.in.
A similar alert was issued by the Indian Embassy in Thailand on Friday, advising Indians to exercise caution and avoid non-essential travel to seven affected provinces in the country.
Diplomatic sources say the situation remains tense, with both sides exchanging fire near disputed areas and concerns mounting over civilian safety and displacement.
Indian missions in both countries are monitoring developments closely and have assured timely updates for citizens in the region.
