June 6, India vs England: The five-match Test series between India and England will start from June 20. The Indian team will leave soon for this. Earlier, the name of the five-match Test series has been changed. It will now be known as the Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy. Earlier this series played between the two teams was known as the Padauti Trophy.
ECB had expressed its desire to retire the Pataudi Trophy
News agency PTI, citing a BCC report, said that the Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy will be unveiled before the series starting at Headingley on June 20. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), however, declined to comment on it. Earlier, the Test series between England and India in Britain was played for the Pataudi Trophy. It was named after Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi and his son Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi. In March, the ECB wrote to the Pataudi family that they wanted to retire the trophy.
Tendulkar and Anderson faced each other in 14 Test matches
Indian team’s great batsman Sachin Tendulkar is the highest run scorer in Test history with 15,921 runs. The 52-year-old former player played 200 Tests between 1989 and 2013. He made countless records in Test and ODI formats. At the same time, Anderson is England’s all-time highest wicket-taker with 704 wickets and the most successful fast bowler in Test cricket. The two legends faced each other in 14 Test matches in which Anderson has dismissed Tendulkar nine times. This is the record for the most number of times a bowler has dismissed this Indian.
Indian team’s tour of England (schedule)
The Indian team will tour England for a five-match Test series. The first Test of this series will be played in Leeds from June 20. At the same time, the second Test will be played in Birmingham from July 2. The third Test will be played at Lord’s from July 10, while the fourth Test will be played in Manchester from July 23. The fifth Test will be played at the Oval in London from July 31. This series will also mark the start of India’s new World Test Championship cycle (2025-27).
