New Delhi, April 30 — India has issued a stern warning to Pakistan over unprovoked firing along the Line of Control (LoC), as tensions between the two nations escalate following a series of ceasefire violations.
The Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan spoke over their established hotline on Tuesday to discuss the recent breach, officials said. According to sources, the call was part of a routine weekly communication, but India used the opportunity to raise concerns over the continued cross-border firing.
“It was a routine call,” a source familiar with the matter said, “but the issue of unprovoked firing was brought up.”
The situation remained tense on Wednesday, as Pakistani troops again opened fire along the International Border in Jammu, prompting a strong response from Indian forces. Officials confirmed the exchange occurred in the early hours of the day, marking the sixth consecutive night of ceasefire violations by Pakistan.
These developments come amid rising hostilities between New Delhi and Islamabad in the wake of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, which has further strained diplomatic and military relations.
Indian defence officials reiterated that any aggression would be met with a firm and proportionate response, and the military remains on high alert along the LoC.
