Infosys Invests ₹300 crore in Mohali IT Boost

by TheReportingTimes

Mohali, Oct 12: Mohali will soon host a large IT campus as Infosys Limited plans to establish a 30-acre facility in the city’s IT City, with an estimated investment of ₹300 crore, officials confirmed on Saturday. The project is expected to generate more than 2,500 employment opportunities in software development, data analytics, artificial intelligence, and other technology sectors.

The campus will be developed in two phases. The first phase will include 3 lakh square feet of construction, providing immediate job openings, while the second phase will expand by 4.8 lakh square feet, bringing the total workforce to roughly 2,500–2,700 employees. The company has indicated that local graduates will be prioritised and that training and skill development programs will be conducted in partnership with Punjab’s colleges and universities.

“This campus will give young professionals in Punjab a chance to work in advanced technology sectors without leaving the state,” said a senior official from the Punjab Industry Department.

Officials noted that the project is expected to have a wider economic impact on Mohali. Local housing, hospitality, retail, and service sectors are likely to see increased demand, generating indirect employment opportunities and contributing to the city’s overall economic growth.

Infrastructure improvements are underway to support the new facility. The Punjab State Industrial and Export Corporation (PSIEC) and Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) are developing roads, electricity sub-stations, and other civic amenities in and around the IT City.

The campus is scheduled for an official launch on November 5, 2025, coinciding with Gurpurab. While Infosys already operates in Chandigarh, this new campus will be larger and more modern, positioning Mohali as an emerging competitor to northern IT hubs like Delhi and Noida.

State Industry Minister Sanjeev Arora said the project is part of the government’s broader strategy to attract investment and generate skilled employment opportunities. “The focus is on providing jobs for local youth and strengthening Punjab’s position in the IT sector,” he said.
