Sri Anandpur Sahib, March 2: Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains has declared that the state government is committed to making Hola Mohalla a world-class experience through the introduction of permanent all-weather infrastructure. During a press conference in Chandigarh, the Minister stated that a new, fully air-conditioned tent city is now dedicated to the public, marking a historic first for pilgrimage centers in India.
The Minister maintained that the government’s focus extends to ecological preservation, as this year marks the first official “Green Hola Mohalla.” He affirmed that the state has replaced single-use plastics with biodegradable materials at all community kitchens to manage waste during the massive gathering. Dr. Bains stated that the holy city has been elaborately illuminated, and heritage sites like Panj Piaras Park have been fully restored for the occasion.
Regarding logistics, Dr. Bains noted that the Rupnagar district administration has organized designated trolley streets to accommodate travelers from Majha, Doaba, and Malwa. He asserted that the presence of 100 e-rickshaws and a network of 20 large LED screens will ensure that the elderly and families can navigate the festivities with ease.
Safety measures have also seen a significant upgrade. The Minister stated that a specialized barricading system at Charan Ganga Stadium would provide Nihang Singhs with ample space for traditional martial arts displays while protecting spectators. “Security measures have been significantly strengthened to ensure the safety of the sangat,” the Minister declared, adding that fully equipped ambulances and medical teams are on standby at all major congregation points.
