Investigators Probe Terror Links in Gurdaspur Checkpost Killings

Unverified Execution Footage Surfaces Online as Police Identify Five Potential Suspects

GURDASPUR, FEB 23: Authorities in Gurdaspur are analyzing new social media evidence following the execution-style killings of two police officers near the Indo-Pak border. The group Tehrik-e-Taliban Hindustan (TTH) has claimed responsibility through a video overlaid with provocative slogans and music, though police have noted the group has no established history in Punjab.

The investigation has also been complicated by a statement from Shehzad Bhatti, a gangster currently based in Pakistan. In a social media clip, Bhatti asserted that the killings were a response to previous police actions. Law enforcement agencies declared that they are working to determine if these claims are genuine or opportunistic.

Assistant Sub-Inspector Gurnam Singh and Constable Ashok Kumar were found dead at their post in Adhian village on Sunday morning. Sarpanch Kamaljit Singh affirmed that he went to the checkpost at 8 a.m. after the Dorangla station house officer reported that the men were not answering phone calls.

“The ASI was lying near a heater with his hands in his pockets, suggesting he was warming himself. The constable was found under a quilt,” the sarpanch declared, indicating that the attackers likely entered the doorless room without meeting any resistance.

The Gurdaspur police stated that technical teams are currently tracing the route of five suspects seen on motorcycles in the vicinity of the Border Security Force outpost. While the TTH is a relatively unknown entity in the region, officials maintained that they are coordinating with central intelligence to verify the authenticity of the execution video and the threats contained within it.
