Iran Confirms ‘Badly Damaged’ Nuclear Sites in U.S. Strikes

by TheReportingTimes

Tehran, 25 June — Iran’s Foreign Ministry on Wednesday confirmed that the country’s nuclear infrastructure sustained serious damage during weekend airstrikes carried out by the United States.

“Our nuclear installations have been badly damaged, that’s for sure,” said Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei in an interview with Al Jazeera. While declining to provide specific details, Baghaei acknowledged the scale of the attack, saying the strikes by American B-2 bombers equipped with bunker-buster munitions were “significant.”

The admission marks the first official Iranian confirmation of the extent of the damage following Sunday’s coordinated military campaign targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities. The strikes reportedly aimed at key uranium enrichment and research sites, forming part of a joint U.S.-Israeli offensive launched earlier this month.

Baghaei did not elaborate on how the damage might affect the country’s nuclear program but suggested the attack would be addressed through appropriate diplomatic and strategic channels. The U.S. has not commented further since announcing a ceasefire brokered on Tuesday.

The statement comes amid heightened tensions and widespread speculation over whether the truce between Iran and Israel—announced by U.S. President Donald Trump—will hold, especially following conflicting reports about post-ceasefire missile activity.
