IYC demonstration disrupts global AI Summit at Bharat Mandapam

BJP accuses Congress of tarnishing India's image on international stage

New Delhi, Feb 20: A group of ten Indian Youth Congress workers was detained Friday after a protest at the AI Impact Summit expo hall in New Delhi. The individuals entered the Bharat Mandapam venue and shouted slogans against the Prime Minister, leading to their immediate removal by security and transfer to the Tilak Marg police station.

Police officials noted that maintaining order at the prestigious summit was a priority and declared that legal boundaries must be respected by all groups. The demonstration occurred as global participants gathered to discuss innovation and leadership in the field of artificial intelligence.

The BJP attributed the disruption to the leadership of Rahul Gandhi, asserting that the Congress party is consistently trying to tarnish India’s image at major international forums. Party spokesperson C R Kesavan maintained that the protesters’ behavior was a disservice to the nation’s global prestige.

“At a time when India is hosting prestigious summits to showcase innovation, the opposition has chosen disruption,” Amit Malviya declared. He asserted that the protest was a deliberate attempt to embarrass the nation in front of an international audience of industry leaders.

The governing party affirmed that while democratic opposition is a right, it should not come at the cost of the country’s global standing. BJP leaders stated that the public would judge the Congress party for its decision to target a non-political technological summit for a political demonstration.
