JIND, Oct 28 — A maternal death at a community health centre in Haryana’s Jind district has led to conflicting claims between the deceased woman’s family and attending doctors. Sweety, a 30-year-old from Lajwana Kalan village, and her unborn child died at the Julana community health centre on Monday, hours after she was admitted with labour pain.
Her brother-in-law, Sandeep Kumar, alleged that doctors failed to respond despite repeated calls for help as her condition worsened. “They said her blood pressure was high and gave her an injection. Soon after, she complained of a headache and began frothing at the mouth. We kept calling doctors, but no one came. She and the baby both died before anyone attended to her,” he said.
However, Senior Medical Officer Dr. Sanjeev Sharma of the Julana health centre denied any negligence. “Sweety suffered a stroke due to high blood pressure. She had been under medication prescribed by doctors at PGIMS, Rohtak, two weeks ago,” Dr. Sharma stated.
He said Sweety was brought to the facility around 11 a.m. with labour pain, and the medical team administered treatment immediately. “All possible efforts were made to save her, but she could not be revived,” he added.
The incident has left residents of Lajwana Kalan in shock, with family members demanding accountability. Local health officials are expected to review the case to determine whether any procedural lapses occurred.
