Kanchan Murder: Prime Accused Fled to UAE, Say Police

by TheReportingTimes

Bathinda | June 15 – A day after the decomposed body of a woman named Kanchan was found in a parked car near Adesh University in Bhucho Kalan, Bathinda police have revealed that the prime accused, Amritpal, fled to the United Arab Emirates soon after allegedly committing the murder.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Gulneet Singh Khurana said on Saturday that a lookout circular had already been issued for Amritpal, anticipating his attempt to flee. “When we obtained Amritpal’s passport details and checked his travel history, it became clear that he had escaped to the UAE after killing Kanchan. We have now initiated the deportation process and alerted authorities there that he is wanted in a murder case,” the SSP stated.

Amritpal is not the only one facing action. Two more individuals — Ranjit Singh of Sohal village in Tarn Taran and an unidentified accomplice — have also been named in the FIR for helping him escape by car immediately after the crime. Police are actively working to arrest the duo.

The investigation took a crucial turn during the interrogation of two arrested aides, Nimaratjeet Singh and Jaspreet Singh, who were remanded to police custody for two days. “We’ll be seeking an extension of their remand for further questioning,” SSP Khurana said.

Preliminary findings suggest the murder was premeditated. “Amritpal had planned the murder at least three months ago. He, along with his associates, had visited Ludhiana — where the victim resided — and stayed in a hotel near her home to conduct reconnaissance,” the SSP revealed.

In total, five people have been booked in the case so far. All face charges of murder and destruction of evidence. Authorities are probing deeper into the motive, with leads indicating a personal dispute.

The victim’s body was discovered late Friday night on the rear seat of a car parked along the Bathinda-Chandigarh highway, sparking immediate police action.
