LUDHIANA, Nov 29 — Police have arrested Bandhu Maan Sekhon, the main conspirator behind the August 7 shooting at Kapil Sharma’s Canadian restaurant “Caps Cafe,” Delhi police officials said.
Sekhon, 28, associated with the Goldie Dhillon gang, was detained in Ludhiana on November 25. Authorities recovered a PX-3 semi-automatic pistol and eight live rounds from his vehicle.
Delhi DCP Sanjeev Kumar Yadav said Sekhon aided the shooters with weapons, logistics and planning. “The gang had planned three attacks on the restaurant this year, targeting July 10, August 7 and October 16, for ransom and extortion,” he said.
The suspect also reportedly fired at the home of ex-Congress councillor Satwinder Singh in 2019, police said. He had ties to Amandeep Singh, alias Asa, at that time.
Sekhon fled to Canada after Surrey police arrested several of his associates in late August. Delhi Police traced him back to Ludhiana and arrested him in the Dugri area. Officials said he had lived in Brampton, Canada, after entering on an employer-sponsored visa in September 2023.
Police continue to investigate and said more details could emerge as the case unfolds.
