SBS Nagar, Aug 9: Unidentified attackers set a liquor shop ablaze in SBS Nagar on Thursday night, prompting a swift response from fire crews. According to police, the miscreants hurled flammable material into the shop, sparking the blaze.
An unauthenticated social media post, shared from a page bearing the name of Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), claimed the incident was a grenade attack. The post also alleged that the shop owners had been warned to shut down permanently for “causing nuisance in the area.”
Superintendent of Police Sarabjit Singh Bahia said officers were verifying the credibility of the post. “In the preliminary investigation, it came out to be a clash between two groups, but we are investigating it from all angles,” Bahia said.
Police have not confirmed any link between the arson and the social media claim. The investigation is ongoing.
