Ludhiana MC suspends sanitary supervisor

LUDHIANA, Aug. 24 — The Ludhiana Municipal Corporation (MC) has suspended a sanitary supervisor and issued show-cause notices to a chief sanitary inspector and a lambardar after officials reported poor sanitation in their areas during inspection, authorities said.

Sanitary supervisor Vijay Chauhan was suspended for failing to maintain cleanliness in his assigned stretch on Chandigarh Road, from Veer Palace to Fortis Hospital. Chief sanitary inspector Surinder Dogra and lambardar Pramod Kumar were served notices over similar lapses on the road leading to the civil surgeon’s office from Dandi Swami Chowk (Old DMC Hospital Road). The inspections were carried out on Friday.

MC commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal said strict directions had been given to the health branch to ensure proper upkeep. “As these employees failed to perform their duties, action has been taken against them,” he noted.

Dachalwal added that inspections are being conducted across the city regularly, and warned that negligence would not be tolerated. “If any employee or official fails to perform their duties to ensure cleanliness, they will face the music,” he said.

In July, a sweeper was suspended for failing to stop open garbage dumping on 100-Feet Road under Zone B of the MC.

The commissioner also urged citizens to cooperate with the civic body. He appealed to residents to stop dumping waste in the open and support efforts to keep the city clean.
