Ludhiana, Feb 13: A 50-year-old police official lost his life early Friday morning after a speeding truck struck him during his morning walk in Ludhiana. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene immediately following the collision, prompting a city-wide search by local authorities.

Tarsem Singh, who was stationed at the Ludhiana court complex as part of a judge’s security detail, was walking near a local girls’ college around 5:30 am when the incident occurred. Eyewitnesses at the scene described a harrowing sight, noting that the impact was severe and left the official immobile on the roadway for a significant period.

“The victim remained on the road for quite some time before assistance could be rendered,” an observer noted.

Officers from Police Division 8 have initiated a formal investigation and moved the body for a post-mortem examination. To identify the vehicle and the individual behind the wheel, investigators are currently scanning footage from various closed-circuit television cameras located along the escape route.

“We are examining CCTV footage from the area and have alerted traffic personnel at all major intersections to intercept the driver,” a representative from Police Division 8 mentioned.

A formal case has been registered against the unidentified truck driver as the search continues across the city.
