Ludhiana SHO Suspended Over Delay in FIR Filing

by TheReportingTimes

LUDHIANA, 1 Oct — The Station Officer of Tibba Police Station, Jaspal Singh, has been suspended following allegations of negligence in handling a domestic violence complaint, police officials said on Wednesday. The suspension came on the direct instructions of Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma, and a departmental inquiry has been ordered. Singh has been sent to the police lines pending the investigation.

The action follows reports that a woman, identified as Dolly, was recently assaulted by her husband. She approached Tibba police station seeking immediate intervention, but officials, led by SHO Jaspal Singh, allegedly delayed filing an FIR, according to police sources.

Commissioner Sharma acted swiftly upon learning of the incident. CP East Sumit Sood said, “We received the news a little late, but as soon as it reached us, immediate action was taken. A new SHO has been posted at Tibba police station, and Dolly’s statement will be recorded so that an FIR can be lodged without further delay.”

Police have maintained that the case is being treated with priority, and all necessary steps will be taken to ensure timely justice for the victim.
