Majithia’s bail hearing postponed again in Mohali court

by TheReportingTimes

MOHALI, Aug. 9 — The Mohali court on Saturday adjourned the bail hearing of Bikram Singh Majithia, pushing the next session to Monday, August 11, at 2 p.m.

The bail hearing was originally slated to begin at 1:30 p.m., but the government’s counsel arrived nearly an hour late, drawing the court’s displeasure. After hearing arguments from both sides, the judge deferred the proceedings to allow more time for consideration.

In addition to the bail plea, the court will take up Majithia’s application for a change of barrack on August 12.

Majithia, who was arrested by the Vigilance Bureau in Amritsar on June 25 in connection with a disproportionate assets case, remains in judicial custody at Nabha jail. The Mohali court had initially ordered 14 days of judicial custody upon his arrest.

A court official said, “Delays in legal proceedings are regrettable, but the process must be thorough.” Defense counsel requested additional time to present arguments effectively.

The case continues to attract significant public and media attention, given Majithia’s political profile.
