Amritsar, Jan 15: The Counter Intelligence wing has launched an extensive probe into cross-border smuggling routes following the seizure of 40 kilograms of heroin. The operation has exposed a well-organized distribution network that intended to supply the high-value consignment to various locations across Punjab.
The four apprehended suspects allegedly collected the narcotics under the direction of a known smuggler. Law enforcement officials directly said that the scale of the recovery points toward deep-rooted connections with international trafficking conduits.
“The consignment was meant to be further supplied at different locations across Punjab, indicating the existence of a well-organised distribution network,” officials noted during the initial case report.
The arrest of the Moga-based quartet marks a significant breakthrough in the state’s ongoing crackdown on organized crime. Investigators are currently probing the financial trails and communication logs of the accused to locate the intended recipients of the drugs and confirm the origin of the heroin.
