Sri Muktsar Sahib, May 25: In a stroke of extraordinary luck, Dipty Bansal, a resident of Green Valley in Malout town, has won ₹2.5 crore in the Nagaland State Dear 500 Super Monthly Lottery—barely 90 minutes after purchasing the ticket on Saturday evening.
Dipty, who runs a car bazaar in Malout, said the win came entirely unexpectedly. “It was a lucky day yesterday,” he shared. “My business partner wanted to buy a lottery ticket, so we called an agent who happened to be in the market nearby. The agent suggested I buy one too, since the draw was happening the same night. I just asked him to give me any random ticket.”
That casual decision paid off swiftly. “Just about 1.5 hours later, the same agent called and told me I had won the top prize of ₹2.5 crore,” said Dipty, still visibly stunned by the win.
Asked about plans for the prize money, he said, “I’m still trying to absorb the news. My family and I will take some time before deciding what to do with it.”
This marks the second major lottery win linked to Malout this month. On May 3, a resident of Panchkula who had purchased a Nagaland State Dear 2000 Monthly Lottery ticket from the town won ₹1 crore.
Malout, it seems, is earning a quiet reputation as a hotspot for lottery luck.
