Ludhiana, April 20: A resident of Raju Colony, identified as Mandeep Singh alias Honey Rana, has been booked by Haibowal police for allegedly posting photos with weapons and uploading morphed images of his wife on social media platforms.
The action followed a complaint lodged by his wife on February 22, in which she alleged that Singh had been using social media to threaten and defame her amid an ongoing matrimonial dispute. The couple is currently living separately, and a related case is pending in court.
“My husband has been sharing pictures of himself carrying weapons to intimidate me,” the complainant told police. She further alleged that Singh uploaded morphed images of her with derogatory captions in an attempt to damage her reputation.
Inspector Gurnam Singh, the investigating officer, confirmed that an FIR had been registered after preliminary findings. “The accused has been booked under Section 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Section 66-C of the IT Act, and Sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act,” he said.
Police said a search is underway to arrest the accused.
