Karnal, April 02: Two masked assailants on a bike opened fire on a man near the court premises in Sector-12, Karnal, on Wednesday afternoon before fleeing the scene.
The victim, identified as Happy from Gharaunda, sustained two bullet wounds, while another person was also injured. Both are undergoing treatment at the Civil Hospital.
Happy had arrived at the Karnal Court for a hearing and was near a fruit chaat shop when the attackers fired multiple rounds. One of them wore a helmet, concealing his identity. The duo escaped through an open field toward the highway.
DSP Rajiv Kumar, along with Civil Lines SHO and a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team, reached the scene. “We are investigating the case from all angles and scanning CCTV footage from the area,” Kumar said.
