Chandigarh, November 28, 2025 — Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Thursday charged the central government with failing to honour its commitment of ₹1,600 crore to Punjab, even after the state supplied 15 million metric tons of rice and 125 million metric tons of wheat.
“Punjab’s farmers ensured the nation’s food security. Our warehouses are full, yet the centre has given us nothing—just empty promises,” Mann said.
The CM warned that the government’s move to offset the promised amount against other schemes is unfair. “They are denying us our rightful dues under the pretext of promises,” he said.
Mann stressed that Punjab will not be subdued. “We will not allow ourselves to be suppressed. Punjab’s farmers feed the country, and we will always stand with them,” he said.
He urged the central government to immediately release the funds and end the discriminatory treatment. “Punjab’s voice cannot be ignored any longer,” Mann said.
