Mann Govt Transfers ₹4.34 Crore to 9,500 Farmers Under DSR Scheme

Chandigarh, March 13 — The Punjab government has transferred ₹4.34 crore to the bank accounts of over 9,500 farmers in the first phase of the Direct Sowing of Paddy (DSR) scheme for the Kharif season 2024.

Agriculture Minister Gurmeet Singh Khuddian said that more than 24,000 farmers registered 2.53 lakh acres under the scheme, and payments were made after verification by district officials.

The government is providing ₹1,500 per acre to promote direct sowing and conserve groundwater. The remaining ₹5,000 per farmer under the DSR scheme will be transferred within the month.
