Mann leaves govt chopper in Gurdaspur for flood rescue

by TheReportingTimes

GURDASPUR, Aug. 27 — Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday pledged all assistance to flood-hit districts of Gurdaspur and Pathankot, even leaving behind his official helicopter to aid rescue operations.

After touring the worst-affected villages and interacting with locals, Mann said many families, including children, were stranded in their homes without food or essentials due to rising waters.

“These are the same people who entrusted me with 92 seats and the helicopter. Today, I am leaving the Punjab government’s helicopter here for them,” Mann told residents, adding that he had directed the deputy commissioner to ensure prompt delivery of rations and other supplies.

In a post on X, the CM said, “Natural disasters are beyond anyone’s control, but our government will not let anyone suffer alone. Every life is precious. The Punjab government’s helicopter is on standby around the clock to assist people in need.”

Mann also assured compensation for losses once the situation stabilises.
