Warns Against Political Interference

New Delhi, May 5: A formal demand for the disqualification of seven Rajya Sabha MPs was presented to President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. The Chief Minister described the recent migration of Aam Aadmi Party members to the BJP as a “murder of democracy” and a calculated effort to destabilize an elected government through unconstitutional avenues.

The controversy stems from the resignation of nearly the entire AAP Rajya Sabha cohort, who cited a shift in the party’s original values as their reason for joining the BJP. Chief Minister Mann affirmed that the central government is utilizing investigative agencies to fracture opposing political parties. He stated that the people’s mandate must be protected against such maneuvers.

“If the Central government misuses its power in Punjab, we will take action,” Mann asserted while addressing the media in the capital. He declared that his government would fight to the last breath to preserve constitutional integrity. The Chief Minister noted that Punjabis have a long-standing reputation for resisting betrayal and protecting the democratic process.

The Chief Minister also reacted to political speculation regarding Punjab’s future electoral landscape following the BJP’s performance in other regions. He stated that the voice of Punjab remains firm and independent. “Our MLAs are the voice of millions of Punjabis,” Mann maintained, adding that the state would continue to stand first in defending the nation’s democratic values despite attempts to influence its internal governance.
