Sri Anandpur Sahib, November 23, 2025 — Massive crowds at Sri Anandpur Sahib for the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur have prompted the Punjab government to institute continuous medical and emergency services across the region, with state officials saying the measures reflect a duty to protect public health during the historic gathering.

Authorities said health units in Sri Anandpur Sahib, Ropar and Kiratpur Sahib have been working round-the-clock, while two new critical care facilities have been set up to manage urgent cases. According to state officials, these steps were designed to keep services accessible despite the large influx of visitors. “We want every pilgrim to feel supported,” an official stated, adding that medical teams have been instructed to prioritize emergency response.
Nineteen additional Aam Aadmi Clinics have been opened specifically for the occasion, raising the total to 40 in and around the venue areas. These clinics have remained continuously operational since the start of the commemorations, providing standard consultations, testing and diagnostics. Health Department data show 1,111 patients had been examined by November 22, and 99 diagnostic tests conducted free of charge.
A large-scale eye care initiative, titled ‘Nigah Langar’, is running alongside. Officials said 522 eye examinations have been completed, with 390 devotees receiving spectacles. One cataract surgery was also performed at Ropar, after the patient was identified at one of the clinics. “This is service in the truest form,” a doctor involved in the program remarked.
The ambulance deployment includes 24 Basic Life Support units and seven Advanced Life Support units. State authorities said the services are stationed continuously, supported by a dedicated medical helpline. Blood donation camps will be held at Virasat-e-Khalsa and Panj Piara Park over the coming days, officials confirmed.
Public hygiene arrangements have been expanded, officials said, to address the needs of women and children, including free sanitary pads, disposal mechanisms and dedicated feeding rooms.
According to state officials, the health services are expected to remain functional without interruption throughout the commemorative period. “This is about ensuring the well-being of every citizen present here,” a senior government representative noted, saying the administration viewed its role as a collective responsibility rather than a symbolic gesture.
