GURUGRAM, September 20:— Panic gripped Sector 45 on Thursday night after four to five masked gunmen opened fire at the office of MNR Buildmark, a real estate company, unleashing nearly 30 rounds before fleeing the scene.
The incident took place around 9:30 pm, police said. Bullet marks were later found on the office windows and on two luxury vehicles — a BMW and a Jaguar — parked inside the premises.
“Initial investigations suggest indiscriminate firing by unidentified assailants. The motive, whether extortion or personal rivalry, will only be confirmed once the accused are arrested,” a senior police officer said.
Police teams rushed to the spot after receiving information, but the attackers had already escaped. An FIR has been registered at Sector 40 police station on the complaint of property dealer Shravan Raheja.
The builder and his staff have not commented on the attack. MNR Buildmark’s Sector 45 office is known to house 11 builders who handle transactions of prominent projects in Gurugram and Delhi NCR.
Police sources said the attack may have been orchestrated by gangsters operating from abroad, pointing towards possible extortion attempts. However, officials have not confirmed this officially.
The incident has drawn parallels to recent cases of gun violence in the region. Singer Rahul Fazilpuria’s associate Rohit Shaukeen was shot dead earlier this year, and just last month, 25 to 30 rounds were fired at the residence of Fazilpuria’s friend and YouTuber Elvish Yadav.
Police said teams are scanning CCTV footage and questioning locals. “We are investigating all possible angles, including gangster involvement. The situation will become clear only after arrests are made,” the officer added.
