Chandigarh, May 27: The Union Territory Administration has announced that May 30 (Friday) will now be observed as a public holiday in the city in honour of the martyrdom day of Guru Arjan Dev Ji. The earlier notification had declared the date a restricted holiday, but it has now been upgraded to a full public holiday.
An official notification issued on Monday stated that all government offices, boards, corporations, and institutions, including industrial establishments under the Chandigarh Administration, will remain closed on this day.
The decision aims to facilitate citywide observances and participation in commemorative events dedicated to Guru Arjan Dev Ji, the fifth Sikh Guru, who is revered for his sacrifice and spiritual legacy.
