MC Issues 57 Challans in Anti-Encroachment Drive

by TheReportingTimes

CHANDIGARH, Dec 13 — The Chandigarh Municipal Corporation carried out an anti-encroachment drive across several city markets on Friday, issuing 57 challans for illegal occupation of public spaces, officials said.

The drive covered mobile markets in Sectors 15, 18 and 22, along with multiple areas in Manimajra. Enforcement teams removed unauthorised extensions, goods placed on public corridors and other obstructions that were disrupting pedestrian movement.

“A total of 57 challans were issued to violators for encroaching upon public land and carrying out commercial activities beyond permitted limits,” an MC official said.

Officials said public corridors were fully cleared during the drive, restoring safe and unobstructed pathways for pedestrians.

The MC reiterated that market areas must remain free of encroachments and warned that similar enforcement action would continue against those misusing public spaces.
