Mock Drills in 3 Border States, Punjab to Hold Exercise on June 3

by TheReportingTimes

New Delhi, 28 May 2025 – In a key security preparedness measure, the Centre will conduct simultaneous mock drills in Rajasthan, Gujarat and Jammu & Kashmir tomorrow, amid heightened India-Pakistan tensions.

While Punjab was initially on the list, the state has notified the Centre that it will hold its drill under ‘Operation Shield’ on June 3, starting 7:30 pm, according to officials.

Sources said the mock drills are precautionary, reflecting the Centre’s lack of trust in Pakistan’s intent amid ongoing tensions. The exercises will include scenarios such as airspace violations, cross-border intrusions, and urban evacuation.

Disaster response teams, police, and local administrations are on high alert and have been fully mobilised. Citizens in participating areas have been asked not to panic and to follow official instructions during the simulation.

Officials said that while Punjab has taken part in past drills, the current geopolitical context adds urgency to the upcoming exercises.
