Modi invites global investors to India’s fintech growth

MUMBAI, Oct 9— Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday called on global businesses to participate in India’s growth story, describing the country as the fastest-growing large economy in the world. Addressing the Global Fintech Fest 2025, he emphasised that technology should not be viewed merely as a convenience but as a means to promote equality and empowerment.

“This inclusive approach has transformed our banking system. Earlier, it was a privilege, but digital technology has turned it into a tool of empowerment. Today, digital payment is a part of everyday life. The credit for this goes to the JAM Trinity — Jan Dhan, Aadhaar, and Mobile,” Modi said.

Highlighting India’s rising fintech capabilities, the Prime Minister noted that the country is not only sharing technology with other nations but also assisting them in developing it. “I invite all countries, including the UK, to forge partnerships with India. All global investors are welcome to participate in India’s growth story,” he added.

Modi stressed that the goal of innovation should go beyond mere growth to include goodness and human progress. “We have to create such a fintech world where technology, people, and the planet can all prosper. Finance should not just mean numbers but human progress,” he said.

The Prime Minister also linked technology to India’s democratic ethos, saying, “When we talk about democracy, it is not limited to elections and policy-making. India has made the democratic spirit a strong pillar of governance. Its best example is technology.”

On the occasion, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer highlighted that the India-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA) is expected to boost the GDP of both countries, reinforcing economic ties between the two nations.

Modi’s remarks underscored India’s ambition to position itself as a global fintech hub while promoting inclusive, technology-driven development.
