Mohali, May 11 — Marking a milestone in the city’s push for eco-friendly transport, Mayor Amarjit Singh Sidhu on Saturday inaugurated Mohali’s first dedicated cycle track.

The 6-kilometre-long track, constructed at a cost of ₹80 lakh, stretches from Old Spice Chowk in Phase 7 to Cheema Light Point in Phase 8, Industrial Area. Mayor Sidhu kicked off the event by riding a bicycle himself along the new track.

“This is just the beginning. We are committed to building similar tracks across Mohali to promote cycling and reduce vehicular pollution,” Sidhu said during the inauguration.

“I am personally monitoring the progress of these projects to ensure timely execution.”

Municipal corporation officials said planning for additional cycling infrastructure in various parts of the city is already underway, with work expected to begin in the coming weeks.

The project is part of a broader initiative to encourage sustainable urban mobility and create a safer environment for cyclists.
