Monorail Halt Leaves 17 Stranded in Mumbai

by TheReportingTimes

Mumbai, Sept 15: Seventeen passengers were stranded on Monday morning when a Mumbai monorail train came to a sudden stop on the tracks due to what officials described as a “technical fault.”

The incident occurred around 7:16 a.m. between the Antop Hill Bus Depot and GTBN monorail station in Wadala, according to information relayed by the Mumbai police control room.

Rescue efforts took about 45 minutes, after which all passengers were safely evacuated and transferred to another train, a civic official said. “All 17 passengers were safe and shifted to another monorail,” the official noted.

The Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Limited (MMMOCL), which manages the monorail system, was not immediately available for comment.

The mishap follows last month’s disruptions when heavy rainfall forced two monorail trains to halt at separate locations, leaving hundreds of passengers stranded until emergency crews intervened.
