Muktsar Reports Two Dengue Cases; Concerns Grow Over Sanitation

by TheReportingTimes

Muktsar, April 27: Muktsar district has confirmed two dengue cases this season, with health officials remaining vigilant and ramping up preventive measures. One of the cases was reported within the last 24 hours, while the other was registered a few days ago from Sirsa, although the patient is a permanent resident of Muktsar.

Health department sources confirmed that they are closely monitoring the situation. “We are alert. A medicine specialist has also been appointed at Muktsar Civil Hospital,” said a senior health official.

While no malaria cases have been reported in the district so far, concerns over sanitation are rising among residents.

Overflowing sewage in various parts of the town is creating unhygienic conditions that could potentially serve as breeding grounds for mosquitoes.

“If swift action is not taken, the situation may worsen very soon,” warned Gurpreet Singh, a local resident.

“Overflowing sewage in several localities is concerning. It’s an ideal environment for mosquitoes to thrive.”

Authorities have acknowledged the sanitation issue, stating that measures are being taken to clear blockages.

“We have deployed teams to clear blockages. Regular monitoring is being carried out to prevent water stagnation,” an official said.

In the wake of these developments, the health department has urged residents to maintain cleanliness around their homes and businesses, avoid water stagnation, and seek medical attention immediately if symptoms like high fever, severe headache, muscle and joint pain, or rashes appear—common signs of dengue infection.
