Faridabad, Nov 13: The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has served a show-cause notice to Al-Falah University in Faridabad for misleadingly claiming expired accreditation for two of its institutions on its official website.
The action comes amid a wider investigation into the university after three of its staff members were linked to the recent Red Fort car blast.
In its notice, NAAC said that Al-Falah School of Engineering & Technology and Al-Falah School of Education and Training falsely claimed to hold NAAC accreditation. The notice clarified that the engineering school’s accreditation was valid from March 23, 2013, to March 22, 2018, while the education department’s accreditation lapsed in March 2016.
NAAC stated that both institutions failed to volunteer for the subsequent Cycle-2 Assessment and Accreditation process required for renewal. “It has been observed that Al-Falah University, which is not accredited by NAAC, has publicly displayed misleading information on its website claiming Grade A accreditation for its colleges,” the notice said.
The council asked the university to explain within seven days why action should not be taken. “Why should the University not be disqualified from future consideration for Assessment and Accreditation by NAAC? Why should the NAAC not recommend to the UGC and NMC to withdraw recognition of Al-Falah University’s programmes?” the notice read.
The council also directed the university to remove all references to NAAC accreditation from its website immediately.
The university’s troubles have intensified after staff members from Al-Falah School of Medical Sciences and Research Centre — Umar Un Nabi, Muzammil Shakeel, and Shaheen Saeed — were linked to the Red Fort blast, which has drawn national security attention to the institution.
