Nation Marks Veer Bal Diwas, PM to Join Programme

by TheReportingTimes

NEW DELHI, Dec 26 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi will take part in a national-level programme Friday to mark Veer Bal Diwas, an observance dedicated to remembering the sacrifice of the sons of Sikh Guru Gobind Singh.

The prime minister will also interact with children who have received the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar, officials said.

Sharing a message on X, Modi described the day as a tribute to bravery and moral strength.

“Veer Bal Diwas is a day of reverence,” he said. “Their lives and ideals will continue to motivate people for generations.”

The Centre has planned a series of activities nationwide to spread awareness about the courage and martyrdom of Sahibzade Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh, who were executed at a young age for their faith.

Government officials said the programmes include storytelling sessions on historical heroes, poetry recitations and creative competitions such as poster-making and essay-writing. The initiatives are being conducted in schools, Anganwadi centres and child care institutions, and through digital platforms including MyGov and MyBharat.

Veer Bal Diwas was announced by Modi in 2022 to be observed every year on Dec. 26 to ensure the legacy of the Sahibzades remains part of national memory.

As part of the observance, BJP National Working President Nitin Nabin and other party leaders visited Bangla Sahib Gurdwara to offer prayers.

The government said the events aim to instill values of courage, conviction and righteousness among young people across the country.
