National Lok Adalat in Chandigarh on July 12

by TheReportingTimes

Chandigarh, May 27 – The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), UT Chandigarh, will organise a National Lok Adalat on July 12, offering litigants a chance to settle various disputes through mutual consent and speedy resolution.

The Lok Adalat will take up cases across a broad spectrum, including criminal compoundable offences, Section 138 cases under the Negotiable Instruments Act (cheque bounce cases), money recovery suits, motor accident claims, rent disputes, consumer complaints, matrimonial and family matters, labour disputes, and cases related to public utility services such as electricity and water bills. Maintenance and other civil matters will also be considered.

Officials urged the public to avail the opportunity for out-of-court settlements and reduce litigation burden. “Interested parties can approach the office of the District Legal Services Authority, UT Chandigarh, to have their cases listed for consideration in the National Lok Adalat,” an official said.

The Lok Adalat framework aims to provide speedy justice and reduce pendency by resolving disputes amicably, without incurring the costs and time of prolonged legal proceedings.
