Chandigarh, Feb 23: The Regional Passport Office in Chandigarh saw a change in leadership on Monday as IFS officer Juhi Jalota officially took charge as Deputy Passport Officer. Succeeding Priyanka Mehtani, Jalota will now lead one of the busiest passport offices in North India, serving a large volume of applicants from Chandigarh, Punjab, and Haryana.
Jalota, who joined the Indian Foreign Service in 2018, possesses a diverse professional background within the diplomatic corps. She has served in various capacities at the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi and held overseas postings in Argentina and Spain.
The outgoing officer, Priyanka Mehtani, affirmed the completion of the handover process. During her tenure, Mehtani managed the post-pandemic surge in passport applications and worked toward digital integration of services.
Administrative staff at the RPO declared that the new Head of Office will continue to prioritize the timely processing of documents and the addressing of public grievances. Jalota maintained that her experience in Indian Missions abroad will assist in managing the complexities of regional passport administration. She stated that the office would continue to uphold the high standards of public service expected by residents of the tricity and surrounding states.
