Chandigarh, Feb 14: Enhancing healthcare delivery in North India, Medanta – The Medicity has started its Outpatient Department operations in Chandigarh. The centre was opened on Saturday to provide local patients with the opportunity to consult with world-class doctors from the Gurugram-based institute. The inauguration was led by renowned cardiologist Dr. Rajneesh Kapoor, who has been recognized by the Punjab government for his contributions to the medical field.

The establishment of this OPD centre is expected to streamline the process for patients requiring super-specialty care in areas such as Cardiology, Renal Care, and Liver Transplants. Addressing the media, Dr. Kapoor mentioned that the facility is part of an effort to make expert medical opinions more accessible to those who find it difficult to travel long distances while unwell. He noted that the center would help in the early detection and management of complex health issues.

Focusing on the technical advancements in heart care, Dr. Kapoor explained that the new facility would bring awareness to modern, minimally invasive procedures. “My department practices non-surgical structural heart disease treatments for life-threatening conditions such as aortic stenosis and mitral valve regurgitation,” Dr. Kapoor directly said. He noted that these advanced procedures provide a new sense of hope and safety for patients who are often considered high-risk for traditional surgeries.

The OPD will host a comprehensive range of specialties beyond cardiology, including Plastic Surgery, Oncology, and Bone Marrow Transplants. By providing a local platform for these consultations, Medanta aims to offer a fuller flow of medical services that integrates different specialties under one roof. The initiative is rooted in the vision of Dr. Naresh Trehan, ensuring that the same standards of clinical excellence found at the Gurugram headquarters are available to the people of the region.

“The patient-first approach allows our teams to arrive at the best possible treatment, customised for each patient,” Dr. Kapoor mentioned during the event. He noted that the philosophy of “Har Ek Jaan Anmol” remains the driving force behind the expansion. The centre is expected to see a high footfall of patients from neighboring Punjab and Haryana districts who require specialized follow-ups and initial surgical evaluations.
