CRANS-MONTANA, Jan 1 — New Year celebrations at a Swiss ski resort turned tragic on Thursday when a blast at a local bar killed at least 10 people and injured dozens.
The explosion struck Le Constellation around 1:30 a.m., according to police. “More than 100 people were in the building at the time,” said police spokesperson Gaetan Lathion.
Emergency teams rushed to the site, treating victims suffering from burns and other injuries. Authorities have shut down the area and imposed a no-fly zone over the region as the cause of the blast remains unclear.
Police are investigating the incident while ensuring that survivors receive urgent medical care, officials added.
