Bhadohi (UP0, June 22: A 22-year-old nurse was allegedly molested, assaulted, and dragged by her hair by an ambulance driver inside a private hospital, police said on Saturday. The incident occurred on June 5, and the accused, identified as Rohit alias Mohit, is currently absconding.
According to Kotwali Station House Officer (SHO) Sachidanand Pandey, the nurse was attending a phone call when Rohit approached and began molesting her. When she resisted, he grabbed her by the hair, beat her, and threw her to the ground.
“The accused also put his hand inside her clothes and committed obscene acts,” said SHO Pandey. “Her cries for help drew doctors and others present in the hospital, who intervened and forced Rohit to leave the premises.”
Rohit, who was a regular at the hospital while transporting patients, fled the scene and remains at large. Police have launched a manhunt to arrest him.
A case has been filed under sections 76 (assault or use of criminal force to woman with intent to disrobe), 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), and 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
“Efforts are on to arrest him at the earliest,” Pandey added.
