Chandigarh, Aug 12 – The UT administration has invited tenders for an international-level multipurpose hall, an Olympic-standard swimming pool, and a girls hostel, officials announced during the first meeting of the administrator’s advisory council’s sports standing committee on Monday.
Tenders, to be opened on August 18, also include upgrades to the Sector 39 swimming pool into an all-weather facility by October 31. Work is underway at the Sector 42 basketball hall, hockey stadiums in Sectors 42 and 18, and the Lake Sports Complex to meet national standards.
An online portal for cash awards will launch on National Sports Day, Aug 29, alongside a new sports policy for specially abled athletes. Policies on sponsor branding in complexes and Group ‘A’/‘B’ jobs for top athletes are also being finalised.
