Dubai, Nov 21: A demonstration flight by the Indian HAL Tejas turned fatal on Friday when the aircraft crashed mid-show at the Dubai Air Show, killing its pilot. The light combat aircraft, performing a manoeuvre for a packed crowd, went down shortly after 2.10 pm local time at Al Maktoum International Airport. Video from the venue showed black smoke billowing from the site as spectators watched in shock.
Indian Air Force officials confirmed the loss of the pilot and said a court of inquiry will investigate what led to the crash. The Tejas had been part of India’s participation in the global aviation event.
