Manakpur, Feb 8: The Punjab School Education Department conducted its second massive statewide workshop on Saturday, drawing over 17.5 lakh parents to government schools across the state. The initiative focused on preparing students for stress-free examinations and educating families on the prevention of drug abuse.

Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains, who joined the session at Government High School, Manakpur, noted that the event serves as a cornerstone for building a collaborative environment between teachers and families. He mentioned that the exercise is part of the broader “Punjab Sikhya Kranti” mission to elevate academic standards through community participation.

“The workshop aims to empower parents with practical strategies for stress-free exam preparation, help them build children’s confidence through positive reinforcement, and raise awareness on drug abuse prevention,” Bains said. He noted that the outreach is a key component of the state’s campaign against narcotics, focusing on early detection and support.

The scale of the event required significant administrative coordination, with 3,000 senior officers and 40,000 trained teachers managing the sessions. Five cabinet ministers and more than 40 MLAs participated in their respective constituencies to support the programme.

Bains said the event solidified a powerful partnership between schools and families. “This initiative reinforces our resolve to further elevate education standards under Punjab Sikhya Kranti by making parents active partners in the learning journey,” the Minister added.
