KARACHI, July 9 — Pakistani actress and model Humaira Asghar Ali, best known for her appearance on ARY’s reality show Tamasha Ghar and the film Jalaibee (2015), was found dead in her apartment in Karachi’s upscale DHA Phase VI on Tuesday. She was 32.
Police officials said the body was discovered in a severely decomposed state, suggesting that the actress may have died nearly two weeks earlier. Officers from Gizri Police Station were dispatched to her residence in the Ittehad Commercial area following a legal request by the landlord, who had been unable to reach her and reported months of unpaid rent.
The court directed police to inspect the premises, and around 3:15 p.m., officers forced entry into the locked apartment. “A strong odour led us to the body,” an official said. The Crime Scene Unit was called in for evidence collection, and the body was moved to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for further forensic examination.
Dr Summaiya Syed, police surgeon at JPMC, confirmed the advanced state of decomposition. “The cause of death remains reserved pending further investigation and postmortem findings,” she said.
Humaira had reportedly been living alone and had not made rent payments in several months. Police are now tracing her family and contacts through mobile phone data. As of Wednesday, no foul play had been confirmed, but all angles remain under scrutiny.
Widely known in Pakistan’s entertainment and art circles, Humaira was also a painter, sculptor, theatre performer, and fitness enthusiast, according to her Instagram bio, which boasts more than 713,000 followers. Her last post, dated September 30, 2024, featured candid personal photographs.
Her sudden and lonely death has sent shockwaves through the industry. Fans and colleagues have begun posting tributes online, mourning the loss of a rising star whose artistic presence extended beyond the screen.
