Ahamadabad, March 30 — Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya has been fined ₹12 lakh for maintaining a slow over rate during their Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

The IPL, in a statement on Sunday, said, “Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya has been fined after his team maintained a slow over rate during Match No. 9 of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 against Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.”

Since this was MI’s first over-rate offence of the season, Pandya was penalized under Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which deals with minimum over-rate violations. “As this was his team’s first offence of the season, Pandya was fined INR 12 lakh,” the statement added.

On the field, MI fell short by 36 runs while chasing GT’s total of 196. The five-time champions ended at 160 for six on the black-soil pitch in Ahmedabad, marking their second consecutive defeat. Gujarat’s win was their first of the ongoing campaign.

MI, still winless in IPL 2025, remain at the bottom of the points table.
