Punjab Kings have entered the qualifier after 10 years. Earlier, the team reached the qualifier in 2014. The Shreyas Iyer-led team finished the league stage with nine wins and four losses in 14 matches. It pushed Gujarat Titans to first place with 19 points and a net run rate of 0.372. At the same time, Mumbai finished fourth with eight wins and six losses. Currently, RCB is in third place, which has to play a match against Lucknow Super Giants on Tuesday. If Rajat Patidar-led RCB wins this match, it will reach the second position and will play Qualifier-1 match against Punjab on 29 May.

Priyansh & English Shine in Punjab’s Dominant Chase

Chasing the target of 185 runs, Punjab got the first blow at the score of 34. Jasprit Bumrah showed Prabhsimran Singh the way to the pavilion. He could score only 13 runs. However, Punjab batsmen did not give up and Priyansh Arya along with Josh English brought the team close to victory. There was a huge partnership of 109 runs in 59 balls for the second wicket between the two. Both played half-century innings and kept the pressure on Mumbai bowlers. Opener Priyansh scored 62 runs with the help of nine fours and two sixes. At the same time, English played a brilliant innings of 73 runs in 42 balls. After this Shreyas Iyer led the team to victory. He remained unbeaten on 26 runs from 16 balls and Nehal Vadhera remained unbeaten on 2 runs. For Mumbai, Mitchell Santner took two wickets and Bumrah took one wicket.
