CHANDIGARH, Aug 3– The Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) has clinched the Best Regional Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (ROTTO) Award for the third time, reaffirming its leadership in the field of organ donation.
The award was presented during the 15th Indian Organ Donation Day in New Delhi, organised by the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (NOTTO). Union Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda handed over the honour to the PGIMER delegation led by director Prof Vivek Lal, deputy director Pankaj Rai, and medical superintendent Dr Vipin Koushal.
This is the second consecutive year PGIMER has received the ROTTO award, having first won it in 2019. The institute was also recognised for having the best Brain Stem Death (BSD) declaration team, commended for its transparent and ethical donor management practices.
Designated as the ROTTO for northern India in 2015, PGIMER coordinates organ donation activities across Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and the Union Territories of Jammu, Kashmir, and Chandigarh.
